«In my childhood there was a song in which it was asked of what our little girls were made and of what - we, boys.
The answer was given straight off: girls, according to the song, were made of plaits, boys were made of bruises.
I have recollected this song because of Onchukov who first of all represents boy’s bruise while painting a portrait of a boy, and a plait - on a portrait of a girl.
We can see neither the boy, nor the girl, but their essence – the bruise and the plait – are available.
However, the bruise may be not painted, the plait may be not represented, but Peter Onchukov with all his pleasure will show a stone that caused the bruise that explains boy’s essence, or - a comb that touched the girl’s hair before it had been weaved into the plait, the girl’s essence.
I see, that my phrase is clumsy and it is possible to read it from the end without losing sense and finding harmony. I did it imitating Onchukov – Peter pulls out hundreds theories and thousand plans, in the manner of our nested dolls».
